An intimate event at Amber Poolside
Birthdays, baby showers, engagements, team dinners and proposals in a garden in the middle of Colombo 3. What the space is like by day and by night, and how to book it.
Some events are too small for a ballroom and too important for a restaurant table. Amber Poolside is where we put them. It is the garden at the heart of the hotel, with the pool running through it and trees overhead that were here long before the hotel was, and it has hosted everything from a first birthday to a wedding for a hundred.
By day and by night
In the morning it is a calm, green place, good for a brunch, a baby shower or a working breakfast with a table by the water. After dark the lights come on in the trees, the pool is lit from below and the whole space changes character: candlelit dinners, cocktails, engagements, and the occasional proposal that the team have quietly helped to set up.
What we do
The menu is built around you. Canapés and cocktails, a set dinner, a buffet, or live cooking stations under the trees; Sri Lankan, Indian, Chinese and Western, in any mix. The events team handle the tables, the lighting, the music and the décor, and outside decorators, bands and photographers are welcome. A projector and microphone can be set up if the occasion calls for a speech.
Numbers and cost
The garden suits anything from a dinner for ten to a reception for 120 at a banquet, seated, standing or a mix. Pricing is by minimum spend on food and drink, which depends on the occasion, the venue and the date, rather than a flat hire charge, and the team will tell you what applies before you commit.
Extras that people add
A suite for the night, for the couple or for guests who have travelled. Treatments at The Court Spa before a bridal shower. A private table on the roof afterwards. And, for corporate gatherings, the Scarlet Room for the morning session and the garden for lunch.
Booking
Weekends and holiday dates go first, so ask early. The enquiry form goes straight to our events team, and the other venues are here if the garden turns out to be the wrong size.
