Christmas Gala Dinner At Amber Poolside

Colombo Court Hotel & Spa, considered as one of the leading luxury hotels in Colombo, hosted their
traditional Christmas Gala Dinner on the 24 Dec at Amber Pool Side. Christmas Gala Dinner that
happened for the third consecutive year was a sold out event. The five course sit down dinner consisted
of an Amuse bouche, Duo of Seafood Symphony, Soup, a Pomegranate delight, and main courses
including Roasted Turkey, Pan Seared Norwegian Salmon followed by the traditional Christmas pudding
which was a hit among the attendees. The man behind the food this year was the vastly experienced
Chef Nilantha Madawala.
The luxury boutique hotel did something different this time to make the event a sold out. They made
sure that the guests are entertained by the guest appearance of world renowned flutist Sahil Khan. This
was indeed a surprise to all attendees because normally you would pay to listen to this great artist.
Sahil Khan, a noted Indian Flutist & Shehnai player from Toronto Canada, began his musical journey at
the tender age of seven, an auspicious musical number representing the 7 notes, when he used to
replicate every good song that fell upon his ears.
As an aspiring vocalist, he learnt vocal music from PanditJawahar Ji and Shri Neer Kamal Ji of Patiala
Gharana. More recently, he has been taking master lessons in flute from none other than the Indian
Flute Wizard Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia ji. He considers Shree Naveen Kumar as his inspiration. During
the initial stages of his music career, he performed at many Music Festivals in India, which included
youth festivals, zonal cultural events and variety entertainment shows held in and outside Punjab. He
became the most sought after flutist for the Punjabi Folk Albums and has over 80 albums to his credit, to
date.
Sahil’s YouTube presence while collaborating with prominent artists such as Aakash Gandhi and Jonita
Gandhi has gained him much recognition. One of the more significant collaborations by the trio includes
Pani Da Rang which has touched more than 3 million views. His individual flute covers have reached over
2.5 million views collectively.
