Carbon neutrality is the equilibrium between emitting and offsetting carbon dioxide (CO2) paramount in the fight against climate change. It’s achieved by offsetting carbon emissions through actions like renewable energy adoption, carbon capture, re-forestation, or carbon offset projects.
At Colombo Court Hotel & Spa, we employ innovative practices like solar panels for water heating. Our commitment to sustainability extends to even the aesthetics and furniture crafted from recycled materials, from table lamps created using recycled bicycle parts to the striking bicycle tree sculpture at our lobby. The Loft lounge bar features bar stools ingeniously fashioned from recycled tractor seats. Embracing eco-conscious materials, we even have repurposed old wall bricks as floor tiles where you can see throughout our hotel. We strive to enhance our natural ambiance while minimizing environmental impact.
We aim to give back to the environment by conducting various CSR projects like the beach cleaning initiative last year, where we successfully removed heaps of debris, with over 50% comprising single-use plastics and glass bottles. This underscores the urgency of addressing sea pollution, threatening coral reefs, fish populations, and marine biodiversity.
On world tourism day we distributed over 100 eco-friendly plants to our community. These plants serve a greater purpose beyond beautifying the environment; they promote biodiversity and enhance air quality while sequestering carbon. We’re ramping up our efforts to give back to our community and the environment even more this year.
